Minecraft Version API

English | 中文

A MCDReforged api plugin to get the Minecraft server version

Includes a simple version normalizer to normalize Minecraft versions to semver styled versions (inspired by Fabric Loader)

The normalized version can be parsed by the Version class of MCDR

Warning: This plugin is only tested on vanilla servers with common versions. If you find any capability issue with other server core, please open an issue

How it works

This plugin will parse the following stdout from the server:

[Server thread/INFO]: Starting minecraft server version 1.15.2

and the plugin can get the version

Usage

Import MinecraftVersionAPI first:

import minecraft_version_api

You can declare the dependency of this plugin in the plugin metadata:

{
    "dependencies": {
        "minecraft_version_api": "*",
    }
}

API

def get_minecraft_version() -> Optional[Tuple[str, str]]

Get the Minecraft server version

Returns a tuple contains the raw version name and the normalized version, or None if the plugin failed to fetch the version

Example: ('22w13a', '1.19-snapshot.22.13.a')
